STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Representative Vince Leach (R-11) today praised Governor Ducey for signing HB 2460 into law.
The bill, sponsored by Representative Leach, prohibits school districts from selling or leasing a vacant or unused building for a financial offer that is less than an offer from a charter or private school.
“When school districts accept lower bids on unused buildings simply to avoid selling them to private and charter schools, not only does it discriminate against those schools but it also shortchanges the taxpayers who paid for the buildings,” said Representative Leach. “I’m pleased that with the enactment of HB 2460, that practice will be prohibited.”
“I thank Governor Ducey and my colleagues in the Legislature for prioritizing both students and taxpayers so we can ensure effective use of vacant school properties across the state.”
